Jhal Muri ~~ Spicy Puffed Rice

Jhal Muri is a popular street food in Kolkata and all over India.  Jhal means spices and muri means puffed rice. Food Vendors can be found making this spicy snack near bus stands, railways stations, on the roads , in a local train and many more places. This is one quick snack where kids can also make it. Add spices according to  your taste and add some chopped onion, tomato, cucumber, chili and cilantro. Add puffed rice only when you are ready to serve or else the dish become soft and doesn't taste good. This popular recipe goes to the 3rd day of Blogging marathon 83 under the theme " Home made street food". Here goes the recipe......... Ingredients: Puffed rice  2 cups Chopped onions 4 spoons Chopped tomato 3 spoons Chopped cilantro 2 spoons Chopped cucumber 3 spoons Chopped green chili  Lime juice 2 spoons Chili powder 1/4 spoon Black salt 1/4 spoon Salt to taste Chaat masala 1/2 spoon Fried bengal gram 2 spoons Thin Sev 4 spoons Roasted peanuts  1/4 cup Mustard / veget

Punukulu~~ Street food

Punukulu or punugulu is a common street food in the coastal  regions of Andhra Pradesh. These are crispy deep fried snack made of udad dal and rice batter ( dosa batter). These can be served with coconut chutney or tomato chutney. Adding chopped onions, chili and cilantro are optional but they add a great taste tot he snack. This recipe goes to day 2 of Blogging Marathon 83 under the theme " Home made street food". Here goes the recipe.... Ingredients: Dosa Batter 2 cups Sooji / semolina  1/4 cup Chopped onion 1/4 cup Chopped cilantro 1/4 cup Chopped green chili 2 spoons Salt to taste Oil for deep frying Preparation: In a  mixing bowl add dosa batter. sooji, chopped onion, green chili, cilantro and salt to taste. Mix everything  well and set aside for 10 minutes. Heat oil in deep frying pan. Take little quantity with spoon and drop it in hot oil. Fry till nice and crisp. Remove and place them on paper towel. Vankaya Bajji

Street food are always tasty and delicious. Vankaya bajji is a tasty snack made fresh on a cart and sold while they are hot. Thse bajji's are very popular in Andhra Pradesh. These bajji are made fresh along with onon bajji, chili bajji and many more. Today we are starting with 2nd week of Blogging Marathon 82. For day 1, am here with a yummy street food Vankaya Bajji under the theme " Make Street food at home". Here goes the recipe..... Ingredients: Brinjal / Vankaya  3 Gram flour / Besan 1 cup Rice flour 2 spoons Chili powder 1/2 spoon Salt to taste Chaat masala ( optional) Oil for deep frying Preparation: Cut brinjal into long thin slices like potato chips. Add them to  salt water as soon as you cut them. In a mixing bowl add gram flour, rice flour, salt and chili powder. Mix everything well, add water to make a smooth paste( not too thin) Heat oil in deep frying pan. Once the oil is hot,  dip the slices in batter and drop them in hot oil. Add few slices at a time. Fry
