Quinoa Tomato Pulao

We have learnt earlier that Quinoa is a Gluten free grain which is high in protein with all essential amino acids. Quinoa Tomato is a spicy and tangy dish with lots of tomato and spices. As Quinoa gives a nice  crunchy and nutty texture to the dish,   frozen or fresh peas gives some  extra flavor and color. Quinoa Tomato Pulao is a  complete healthy and nutritious meal in itself. Perfect dish to pack for lunch boxes or to have for dinner. This dish goes to Day 20 of Mega Marathon theme " Biryani / Pulao and Khichdi recipes with grains". Ingredients: Quinoa 1 cup Tomatoes 2 Onion 1 small sliced Green peas 1/4 cup Ginger Garlic paste 1/2 tsp Green chili slit 2 Cashew nuts 10 Cloves 3 Cardamom 2 Cinnamon stick 1 inch  Bay leaf 1 Garam masala 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp Chili powder 1/2 tsp Chopped cilantro 1/4 cup Oil 3 tbsp Water 1 1/2  cups Preparation: Wash and soak Quinoa for 10 minutes. Mixed Veggie Qunioa Pulao

Quinoa is a gluten free grain which is high in protein and one of the few plant foods that contain 9 essential amino acids. Quinoa is high in fiber, B vitamin, E vitamin, iron, potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus and many more antioxidants. Lately we have started including Quinoa in our daily diet replacing white rice. Today's dish is a simple and delicious Quinoa pulao with mixed veggies. I have added some soaked almonds to make this dish  rich and more healthy. This recipes goes to day 4 of Blogging Marathon 99 under the theme " Biryani / pulao / Kichidi with Grains". Quinoa Ladoo

Quinoa is one of the worlds popular health foods. Quinoa is Gluten free, high in protein and contains all 9 essential amino fluids. High in fiber, iron and  calcium. As it is high in protein, it can both increase metabolism and reduce appetite. Today I am here to show you how to prepare ladoo with this healthy seeds. This recipe is adapted from here,  only change I made was, I replaced sugar with jaggery to make it more healthier. Here goes the simple and delicious Quinoa ladoo......... Ingredients: Quinoa 1 cup Jaggery 1/2 cup Butter / ghee 2 spoons Milk 1/4 cup Water 1 spoon Preparation: Wash quinoa thoroughly, drain water. Black beans are classified as legumes. Like other legumes, such as peanuts, peas and lentils, black beans are high in protein and fiber. The black beans are very popular in Latin American Cuisine. These beans are Native to Americans but has been introduced all over the world.  Quinoa is a flowering plant in amaranth family. It is a annual plant grown as a grain crop primarily for edible seeds. Quinoa is closely related to edible plants like beetroot, spinach and amaranth. Quinoa seeds are processed to remove the outer layer which tastes  bitter. The seeds are cooked just like we cook rice and can be used in wide range of dishes. Quinoa is Gluten free, high in protein and it is easy to digest. Consumption of Whole Grains lowers the rice of several diseases. They are a source of carbohydrates, multiple nutrients and dietary fiber. Quinoa Idly

Traditionally idly is prepared with Udad dal and idly rava or udad dal and idly rice. But try  adding something healthy like oats / quinoa. Have tried Oats idly sometime back and kids and my hubby loved it. This time I tried idly with Quinoa.  Simple, soft  and healthy dish for the whole family. You can ferment as regular idly or can make immediately adding eno fruit salt with out fermentation.  Today we are starting with 4th week of BM. I choose Kids Delight- Lunch box recipes for kids. My kids being very picky eaters have to always think what to pack them for school lunch. You wont believe my son survived only on  peanut butter and bread through out his kindergarten. Vegetable and Quinoa Burrito / Wrap

Burrito is a type of Mexican food consisting of wheat flour or  corn flour tortilla wrapped or folded completely on all the sides with filling of veggies, meat, beans and rice inside it. Burritos are commonly called as tacos de harina which means wheat flour tacos. For day 3, under tortilla based dishes am here with a healthy and delicious Burrito / Wrap filled with veggies, quinoa and cheese. Usually burrito calls for rice for the filling, to make it little healthier I have replaced rice with quinoa. Easy to make and crunchy and delicious dish for a healthy life. Here goes the recipe... Quinoa Sweet Pongal with Khajur Ka Gud( Date jaggery)

January is a month of Pongal festival. Pongal is the Harvest  festival of South India. Rice is cooked  with milk in new pots  until they boil over.  Then we add some jaggery  or sugar for sweetness.  This is called Sweet Pongal.  This Pongal is offered to god as Naivedyam and distributed to family and friends. Today we are starting with 3rd week of BM 36. And my theme for this week is Pongal varieties. For day 1, I made Sweet pongal, it is  usually made with rice, milk and jaggery.  To try something new, I made it with Quinoa, rice and chana dal, with Khajur ka Gud. Khajur ka gud or jaggery is different from the regular jaggery with is made with sugarcane. Khajur ka gud is made with dates and is very soft. Its in dark brown in color, melts quickly  and has a very different  taste. This jaggery is mostly used in Bengali Cuisine. Here goes the Quinoa Sweet Pongal with Khajur ka gud.......
