West Bengal - Veg Chop / Bhejetebil Chop

Veg chop or Vegetable chop also known as Bhejetebil Chop is a popular street food from Kolkata, West Bengal. Main ingredient being beetroot, potato and carrots are also added to a nice binding to the chops.  Freshly ground masala give nice aroma and kick to the dish. Addition of crushed peanuts also give nice taste and nutty taste to the chops. The vegetables can be either cooked and mashed or the carrots and beets can be grated raw and added to mashed potatoes. Either ways they taste awesome. These chops can be made ahead of time and freeze  them for later use. Once ready to fry them just thaw them in microwave or leave them at room temperature for 30 mins and then fry them. Believe me your family would love these chops. Beetroot Poori

Beetroot poori is a puffed and crisp poori's made of Atta / whole wheat flour with beetroot puree  and some spices. These vibrant crimson colored poori's has many nutritional values.  Beetroot is very good for pregnant woman, it keep diabetes under control, reduces bad cholesterol and lowers the blood sugar.  This is one simple yet delicious recipes to prepare for your family specially kids who do not like beetroot so much like mine.  So make these beautiful poori's for them today along with some mixed veg curry.  This recipes goes to day 3 of Blogging Marathon  94 under the theme " Colorful Recipes...." Ingredients: Beetroot 1 medium Wheat flour 2 cups Semolina / Sooji 3 spoons Fennel seeds / carom seeds 1/4 spoon Ginger root 1 inch chopped Salt to taste Oil  Preparation: Peel the skin of beetroot and chop into small - medium pieces. Beetroot Crepes

Under the Crepes theme I am here today with a bright, beautiful and delicious beetroot crepes. This is a basic crepe recipe with addition of cooked beetroot pulp / paste. You can serve these crepes for breakfast or evening snack or when ever you like to.  For day 2 and week 2 under the theme " Crepes for all" here goes the recipe of Beetroot Crepes...... Ingredients:  All purpose flour 1 cup Beetroot 1 large Eggs 4 Sugar 1 tbs Milk 1 1/2 cup Salt 1/4 spoon Whipped cream Chocolate syrup Preparation: Except beetroot blend all the ingredients into smooth batter. You can either presser cook beetroot or use raw one. I prefer cooked beetroot as it gives a smooth texture to the crepe. If using raw peel the skin off and cut the beetroot into small pieces. Grind to smooth paste with out adding any water. If  presser cooking, peel the skin off and presser cook beetroot  for 2 whistles. Let cool completely, grind to smooth paste along and add to batter. Beetroot Pulao

The beetroot is the taproot portion of the beet plant. The deep purple roots of the beetroot are eaten boiled, roasted or raw.  The green leafy portion of the beet is also edible.  Beetroot can also be used to make  wine. Other than food beets are used as a food coloring and as medicinal plant. Beetroot has many health benefits like they are high in immune boosting vitamin C, fiber  and essential minerals like manganese and potassium. It is also helpful in reducing blood pressure. Today we are starting with 2nd week of Blogging Marathon 65. Beetroot Tikki

Beetroot is the root portion of the beet plant. The deep purple root of the beet is eaten either boiled or raw. It is also used as a food coloring and as a medicinal plant. The green leafy portion of the beet is also edible.  My  theme for this weeks BM  is Kids Delight -Snacking all the way. This a perfect and healthy snack for your kids and also grownups. Perfect snack to pack for their lunch boxes. You can consume this tikki in between breads or can be made as a Beetroot tikki Burger. How does that sound? But my kids loved it as it is and had these cute beet hearts with Ketchup. Me and hubby dear rolled these tikki's in lettuce adding some  sliced onions and ranch. We just loved the beet lettuce wrap. Beetroot Idly

Beetroot is the taproot portion of the beet plant. Other than food, it is used in food coloring and as a medicinal plant. Usually deep purple root of the beetroot are eaten either boiled, roasted or just like that in a salad. When beet juice is used it is most stable in foods with low water content. Betanins obtained from the beets are used as a red food colorants in desserts, jams, ice creams and breakfast cereals. Beets are also used to make wine. It has many nutritional values too. Today we are starting with final week of Blogging Marathon 49. My theme for this week is to cook colorful dishes for kids. For day 1, I choose to cook with beets, which as a natural color in itself and also very good for our  and kids health.  So here is a colorful idly with beets.
