Potato Stuffed Bread Rolls

Breakfast is the first and most important meal of the day. It is said that we have to eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar. The menu varies from place to place. Globally there are very wide range of preparations and ingredients that are associated with breakfast. Me being south Indian, out typical breakfast consists of idly, dosa, upma, poori etc.... Now that I am living in USA for quite sometime now, we have changed our menu to cereal, toasted bread, oatmeal, scrambled eggs etc.... I sometimes mix and match the menu and ingredients involved in it.  Today's recipe is one such mix and match dish of french toast and bread roll. I had some left over  potato which I used for making parathas. Here I will cutting the edges of bread then roll it to make it thin. Fill it with potato and fold it to dip in  beaten eggs. This dish was so delicious and filling. I served it with some sliced avocados too to make it more rich and healthy.  This recipes goes to w

Cinnamon Roll

Cinnamon roll is a Swedish sweet roll made of yeast leavened dough. These delicious rolls are filled with ground  cinnamon and sugar. Baked and then coated with sugar frosting. In Sweden Cinnamon rolls are enjoyed during coffee break or Fika which means get together with friends. In America these rolls are served for breakfast or as a dessert. These simple yet delicious cinnamon rolls are my family favorite rolls. Try making them with your kids, they would love it I promise. This recipe is adapted from here . Croissant

Croissants are one of my favorite breads. Croissants are buttery, flaky and French Origin bread. The dough is made with yeast, sugar, salt and lots of butter. The dough is layered with butter and folded couple of times and rolled into sheets. These simple, light and delicious croissants are great to have for breakfast along with a cup of coffee or milk. They can be stores in air tight container for up to 10 days. This recipe is adapted from here . Paneer Paratha is a Indian Flat bread stuffed with paneer ( cottage cheese ) along with some spices. This is most popular breakfast dosh in Punjab, India. These stuffed parathas are served with plain yogurt , pickle or dal. This simple and delicious paratha goes to day 3 of blogging Marathon 103 for week 2 under the theme " Breads of similar type". Ingredients for the dough: Whole wheat flour 2 cups Oil 1 tbsp Salt to taste Water Ingredients for stuffing: Shredded paneer  2 cups Chopped cilantro 4 tbsp Chopped green chili 2 Garam masala 1/2 tsp Red chili flakes 1 tsp Chaat Masala 1 tsp Crushed Kasoori Methi 1 tsp  Salt to taste Oil / ghee / butter to cook paratha  Preparation: Lets prepare the dough first. Broccoli & Potato Paratha

Broccoli is an excellent source of  Vitamin K , C, E and B 6. It is a very good source of dietary fiber, magnesium, protein, calcium, omega 3 fatty acids and iron. On the other hand Potato is also rich in Vitamin B 6 and C. I have prepared Broccoli and Carrot paratha earlier, this time i have paired it with potato.  Mashed Potato gives nice binding and taste to the dish. Bedmi Puri

Puri is a popular breakfast dish made with wheat flour. The flour is made into semi smooth dough then rolled out into small circles and then deep fried. It is usaully served with potato curry, kurma or chana masala. This is the traditional puri which is made all over Indian Sub continent.  Bedmi Puri is another popular breakfast dish made in Delhi and some parts of Uttar Pradesh. Udad dal is the key ingredient for this dish. Udad dal is an energy booster as it is rich in protein and iron, and most importantly it improves digestion. Udad dal is added by soaking in water and grinding into smooth paste. There puri's is slightly thicker than the regular puri. Bedmi puri is usually served with spicy potato curry.
